It’s been raining for three days straight. You hear your sump pump running and breathe a sigh of relief. But what would you do if your sump pump failed or if water overflowed from the basement drain? It could damage your building, not to mention any valuable property you – or others! – own that’s stored in your basement.
If you have a West Bend commercial policy that doesn’t include Water Back Up, Sump Pump Overflow Coverage, you’d have a problem because you wouldn’t have coverage. The Water Back Up, Sump Pump Overflow endorsement offers coverage if water backs up or overflows from a sewer or drain OR if water overflows from a sump pump.
We offer a number of coverages limits to fit your needs:
- $5,000 in coverage for a $25 charge;
- $10,000 in coverage for a $50 charge;
- $15,000 in coverage for a $75 charge;
- $25,000 in coverage for a $125 charge; and
- $50,000 in coverage for a $250 charge.
Keep in mind, these limits are per policy, not per location. To illustrate, let’s say you own three buildings and you chose a $10,000 coverage limit. If all three buildings were damaged because water backed up or overflowed from the sewer, we would pay up to $10,000 total for damages to all three buildings.
Water Back Up, Sump Pump Overflow Coverage can be one of those coverages you may not think of until you need it. But don’t wait until then. Contact your independent insurance agent who can tell you more and add this coverage to your commercial policy.
