There are so many reasons! From a working environment you won't find anywhere else in Southeast Wisconsin, to a culture that focuses on the health, professional development, and overall well being of our associates, the benefits of working at West Bend are nearly too many to mention! But we'll do our best.
For the second consecutive year, Business Insurance magazine and the Best Companies Group has named West Bend the nation’s top place to work in the large property/casualty insurer category! West Bend was one of 50 companies nationally recognized in the 2011 Best Places to Work in Insurance program.
Situated on nearly 160 acres of prairie and woodlands, our campus is ideally suited for the natural environment and our building's design reflects its rural heritage. Outside are acres of prairie grasses and wild flowers, home to deer, fox, wild turkey, and dozens of species of native birds.
While on the outside our building blends perfectly with its wooded prairie setting, inside you'll find the latest technology. From large, open office areas to a state-of-the-art training and education center, West Bend's headquarters provides our associates with a work environment that's second to none. And we can't forget to mention our fully-equipped fitness center and restaurant-quality Terrace Café.
Many West Bend associates develop their skills and talents as they grow into more challenging positions. In fact, we wouldn't have it any other way. That's why we offer our associates a great continuing education program. We want to give them the tools they need to succeed. Naturally, many classes focus on insurance education, including courses offered by the Institutes.
But we also provide other practical training that's computer focused, including Word and Excel classes, offered in conjunction with our local technical college. And our GPS management training program helps our management team develop or improve key skills.
Continued education is an important investment. That's why we reimburse the cost of tuition or registration for approved courses, seminars, and programs. This includes courses necessary for designations, professional development seminars, and degree-related programs.
Many technology-related classes and insurance education courses are available for associates right here at our corporate office at no charge.
Life outside of work doesn’t stop while we're here. We understand our associates sometimes may have to change their work schedules to accommodate needs at home. That's why West Bend's associates may choose their working hours with their manager's approval.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of working at West Bend, and the one that’s least tangible, is the care and concern we have for each other and those in our communities. West Bend associates have a long history of supporting everything from their favorite non-profit organizations, like the United Way and American Cancer Society, to families and friends who are courageously battling health issues or other difficult situations. In fact, associates who are recognized for demonstrating the West Bend Way designate a donation from West Bend to the non-profit organization of their choice.
As a corporation, West Bend supports organizations throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. The Boys and Girls Club, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC Fund), and the American Red Cross are just some of the organizations supported by the West Bend Charitable Trust which donates thousands of dollars each year.
