Our loss prevention professionals have nearly 300 years of combined service in the loss prevention industry. Our highly-skilled team of consultants has the experience and technical knowledge to help you implement an effective loss prevention program that suits the unique needs of your business.

Meet our loss prevention reps:

Karen Abshier is a graduate of McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She’s also an OSHA 10/30 hour outreach trainer for general industry. With extensive lab safety and insurance risk management experience, Karen has worked with multiple industry groups, including manufacturing, warehousing, lessors’ risk, retail, construction, steel supply, fleet, governmental operations, social services, public health, law enforcement, transit, recycling, landfills, and county nursing homes and hospitals. She’s familiar with the loss control challenges of a small business owner, as well as those of a multi-national corporation. Karen joined West Bend in 2016 and specializes in high-complexity risks requiring customized service techniques.

Scott Anthony attended the University of North Texas where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health. He provides loss control, risk management assessments, and consultative services, and helps reduce property, liability, auto, employee accidents, injuries, and loss exposures to a wide range of industries including property and casualty insurance companies, managing general agents, and third-party administrators. He joined west Bend in 2020 and provides these value-added loss control services and resources to West Bend policyholders.

Jeff Bullington graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology. His fieldwork experience has been mainly with property and casualty insurance companies, along with workers’ compensation. Jeff joined West Bend in 2019 as a loss control representative. He’s worked closely with customers to perform risk analysis, provide risk management solutions, help lower experience modification rates, and provide safer working conditions for employees.

Dusti Butler earned her bachelor’s degree in Insurance from the Katie School of Insurance at Illinois State University. She also maintains the Associate in Risk Management certification and has experience working with a variety of risks and classes of business. Dusti joined West Bend in 2016 and specializes in high-complexity risks requiring customized service techniques. She provides consultative services and assessment work to address property, fleet, general liability, product liability, and workers’ compensation exposures.

Larry Ditscheit is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in Safety. He’s also a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with vast insurance, safety, and loss control experience and has extensive experience in the insurance industry. Larry joined West Bend in 1993 and has performed a variety of functions within the Loss Control Department, including his current position as a loss control representative.

Alyssa Fredenburg earned a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree in Business Continuity, Security and Risk Management from Boston University. She has seven years of experience in the manufacturing industry, working with a wide variety of risks, including aerosol packaging and filling, plastic injection molding, and aircraft engine components. Before coming to West Bend, Alyssa was an environmental health and safety specialist, providing technical and administrative guidance in promoting safety policies, culture, and regulatory compliance. She joined West Bend in 2018 and helps customers find opportunities for improvement by providing technical and administrative guidance in promoting best practices, safety policies, and regulatory compliance. 

Ali Grischow is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety. She’s earned a Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and is a current member of the American Society of Safety Professionals. Ali has completed OSHA 30 Hour Construction Industry training, MSH training, and NFPA Certified Fire Inspector Training. She joined West Bend in 2018 and works with small and middle-market accounts, helping them identify risks across all lines of coverage. She enjoys investigating loss runs and analyzing company data to help companies improve their overall safety culture.

Chuck Henry is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Human Resources/Training and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. Chuck also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Management (CRM), and Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. He started his career as a safety director in private industry, then moved to the insurance industry as a loss control consultant. Chuck joined West Bend in 2008 and currently leads West Bend’s Loss Control team. Chuck and his team provide safety and health, property, fleet, general liability, and products liability consulting services to West Bend’s commercial policyholders. These include supervisory training, risk assessments, loss trending, injury prevention, regulatory compliance, and engineering controls to minimize loss.

Mike Himes earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Mike also has a master’s degree in Risk Control Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He’s a Certified Fire Protection Specialist and also earned the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation. Mike joined West Bend in 2006 and works with small and medium accounts, as well as specializing in high-complexity risks requiring customized service techniques. Mike helps policyholders with general safety fleet safety training, program reviews, light-duty programs, site safety audits, and many other aspects of safety programs.

David Kapitan is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety. He also earned the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation. David has many years of experience with both national and regional carriers in multi-line loss control techniques with an emphasis in workers’ compensation, general/products liability, and commercial auto in a wide variety of industries, including construction, industry, retail, transportation, and health care.

Randy Kruser is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety. He’s attended the OSHA General Industry 30 Hour Course, 10 Hour Construction Course, and 8 Hour Excavation Competent Person Training Course. He’s a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and has earned the Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) designation. Randy joined West Bend in 2014 and has extensive experience working in multi-line loss control techniques with an emphasis in commercial auto, general/products liability, and workers’ compensation. He’s worked with a variety of industries, including transportation, construction, health care, and manufacturing. He’s also worked with all sizes of businesses and has experience helping customers develop safety and loss control programs with an emphasis in workers’ compensation and fleet.

Cari Lamb is a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Relations. With many years in the insurance industry, Cari has worked with multiple lines of insurance, including commercial policies and personal policies. She also has claims experience. With Cari’s expertise in OSHA compliance and safety training, she helps customers navigate OSHA compliance, including policies and procedures in a variety of industries. She joined West Bend in 2013 and works with accounts of all sizes and lines of business, including workers’ compensation, auto, property, general liability premises, general liability products, and employment practices.

Tammy Lamberg has many years of experience and several certifications in fire science, fire inspection, and public safety. She’s a graduate of the National Fire Academy Fire Prevention Principles Program and is a certified fire inspector and fire investigator. She served 27 years in fire service and 6 years as captain of the Fire Prevention and Public Safety Bureau for the City of West Bend, Wisconsin. She worked with small businesses, industrial, residential, health care, and educational facilities, as well as other organizations to create fire safe and injury free environments. An adjunct instructor for two technical colleges, she’s taught fire inspector certification and fire cause and determination classes, as well as various emergency medical courses. Tammy joined West Bend in 2018 and works with small and mid-market commercial accounts, advising them on risk control related to all lines of coverage. Tammy has completed OSHA 10 and AINs certifications.

Jennifer Perket is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy and Planning and Public Administration. Jennifer has valuable experience as a consultant, offering environmental and safety compliance services within the manufacturing environment. Jennifer joined West Bend in 2016. She understands the challenges of loss control and can help companies prioritize necessary actions to reduce risk. She’s well versed in OSHA compliance requirements and can provide information, not only for loss control, but also for OSHA compliance, including machine guarding, lockout tagout, and ergonomics.

Tom Reed earned a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa and is a certified trainer for the OSHA 10/30 Hour Construction training program. Tom is also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He joined West Bend in 1991 and spent most of his career specializing in high-complexity risks requiring customized service techniques. He provides safety and health, property, fleet, general liability, and products liability consulting to commercial policyholders. He also conducts workers’ compensation investigations and provides supervisory/worker training, risk assessment, loss trending, injury prevention, regulatory compliance, and engineering controls to minimize loss.

Phillip Rigsby has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Phillip’s experience includes working for both a risk analysis management company and the insurance industry. He’s also a Certified Fire Protection Specialist through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Phillip joined West Bend in 2010 and has worked closely with customers to perform risk analysis, provide risk management solutions, and help lower their experience modification rates and provide safer working conditions for employees.

Mindy Schuett is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Business. She also earned an MBA in Risk Management from Concordia University and holds her Certified Fire Protection Specialist certification. Mindy joined West Bend in 2013 as a loss control property specialist. In 2016, Mindy received the Risk Management Professional of the Year Award from the International Association of Insurance Professionals. With extensive property knowledge, specializing in the evaluation of sprinkler systems, combustible dust, and building construction, Mindy has worked with multiple industry groups to help identify property exposures. These including manufacturing, warehousing, lessors’ risk, retail, restaurants, recycling facilities, and habitational. She’s familiar with the property challenges of small business owners, as well as those of multi-national corporations.

John Talaber is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Emphasis: Safety, and a master’s degree in Industrial Management, Emphasis: Safety & Industrial Hygiene. He has experience with multi-line loss control techniques with an emphasis in workers’ compensation, general/products liability, and commercial auto. He’s worked with a wide variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, retail, transportation, public entities, and healthcare. John has also worked with both national and regional carriers. John has been with West Bend since 2019 and provides consultative services and assessment work for safety and health, property, fleet, general liability, and product liability.

Ron Wegner is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and has a certification in Fire Protection Technology from Oklahoma State University. He has more than 26 years of workplace safety experience in both private industry and insurance. Ron joined West Bend in 2013 and has extensive experience with large commercial accounts, helping these customers develop workplace safety and loss prevention programs with a special emphasis in workers’ compensation process management and property conservation. He’s very active with the Wisconsin Council of Safety, serving on the advisory board and conference planning committee, and chairs the occupation safety professionals subcommittee. He has extension education and certifications in fire science/firefighting and is very active in his local community, serving as a volunteer fire chief and EMT.

Dan Wilson is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He also earned a master’s degree in Safety and Risk Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and the Associated Loss Control Management (ALCM) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designations. Dan joined West Bend in 2002 and provides consultative services and loss control assessment work for safety and health, property, fleet, general liability, and product liability-related exposures for West Bend policyholders, helping them with onsite accident investigations and safety inspections, and improving safety management systems.
