On highways across the country, tractor trailers carry loads of all kinds of items to different places. Once a truck has arrived at its destination, the driver must open the doors for unloading. This basic task can be more hazardous for drivers than one would think. Loads can shift during the trip, and heavy items could fall onto the driver when they open the doors. Additionally, trailer doors are heavy; if a strong wind catches the door, the driver can be injured if they try and hold onto the door while it’s being pulled by the wind. Check out our video below for tips and clear examples of ways drivers can keep themselves safe while opening and closing their trailer’s doors.
