In 1893, a fire roared through West Bend, Wisconsin. this tragedy was one of the worst for our community. The following year, West Bend Mutual Fire Insurance Company was formed by local business men who wanted to protect their property. Even then we began to show that something good can come from something bad.

125 years later and here we are. We have over 1,200 associates and our continued growth has allowed us to expand into multiple states, with the ability to help so many people and businesses. Thanks for joining us on this journey as we celebrate our 125th year in business.

We are loving all the holiday decorations inside and out!

We released 25 pheasants, both roosters and hens, on the prairie in a continuation of our efforts to have a resident population. To help with pheasant establishment, we have food plots for them and other wildlife on our property too. Pheasants prefer to run and hide in cover, so our prairie is the perfect home for them.

What was happening in 1994? We now have 540 associates and some great company events and amenities. Check out this picture from one of our Halloween parties!

We welcomed thirteen associates to the 25 Year Club on Thursday evening. CEO, Kevin Steiner, also an inductee, honored them for their loyalty and dedication. How wonderful it was to have their fellow club members – both current and retired associates - there to help celebrate. Congratulations Stephanie, Judy, Lynn, Mark, Theresa, Dona, Tammy, Bonny, Lisa, Paul, Camille, Evelina and Kevin!

Today we're celebrating John as he retires after 26 years at West Bend! We wish you all the best and hope you enjoy retirement. 

As we continue to celebrate our 125th anniversary,  we love looking back on old office and associate photos. In 1982, we built a 34,000-square-foot addition to our main street office. This brought the total square footage of the home office (at the time) to 64,000 with room for 360 associates. It also brought enormous computers, awesome hairstyles, and rad clothes. 

Bill is retiring after 34 years at West Bend! We hope you enjoy every minute of retirement, thank you for your dedication and hard work! 

Celebrate National Payroll Week!

National Payroll Week (NPW) coincides with the week of Labor Day and celebrates America’s employees and the payroll professionals who pay them. Together, through payroll withholding, we contribute, collect, report, and deposit 70% of the U.S. Treasury’s annual revenue, about $2.4 trillion per year. The American Payroll Association (APA), its local chapters, and others in the payroll industry use the week as a platform to spread awareness of the payroll withholding system, to host community services projects, and to educate others on how paychecks are calculated and how to get the most out of their pay.  Learn More!  

The annual “Getting Paid in America” survey enables the APA to gauge changing trends and attitudes towards payroll and time and attendance topics. Participants are automatically entered to win a free paycheck and a dream vacation!!!
